A journey through the forest is one of life’s luxuries; for in the space between the trees lies the innermost secrets of the soul.
In this same vein, creating an insect repellent that merely repels insects would be missing out on an opportunity to nourish, heal, and sanctify the skin!
Crafted with 100% organic essential oils, beeswax and jojoba, our Forager’s Balm penetrates the lipid layers of the skin, allowing nourishment to reach deep tissues. Highly concentrated and potent, many of the natural insect repellants contained in this balm require an entire plant just to create a single drop of oil.
Powerfully protective for saunters outside, Forager’s Balm is also incredibly soothing on insect bites and skin abrasions. Use the balm behind the ears, on the face, on the hands, and at the nape of the neck for peace from pests. Avoid using on the eyes.
Forager’s Balm is even more effective when used in combination with our Forager’s spray (Forager’s Cologne). The balm is great on exposed skin and behind the ears and neck while the spray can be used on clothes, hair and skin.
Leleshwa – Leleshwa, or African sage, is a natural insect repellant wild-crafted in Kenya. It is such an effective protectant against insects and bug bites that even animals have been observed rubbing themselves against the bark and leaves of this shrub, in order to stave off flies and mosquitoes. If Leleshwa can protect African elephants from pesky pests, surely it can do the same for you!
White Sage – White sage is an ancient Native American remedy that soothes itchy skin and calms inflamed insect bites. It’s also considered extremely sacred, and used to purify body and soul during religious rituals. This ingredient will transform your walk in the woods into an other-worldy experience, helping you to commune with nature on a deeper level.
Geranium – Geranium is potent with the botanical compounds of geraniol and citral which are the competent components that have made geranium an effective vermifuge throughout history.
Lemon Tea Tree – Lemon tea tree is a powerful insect repellant thanks to a triumvirate of anti-pest compounds: pinene, citral, and citronellal. These components work together to shield the skin from bites while invigorating the spirits.
Eucalyptus Globulus – Also known as Blue gum oil, this species of eucalyptus is packed with cineol, a powerful insecticide. It’s also a wonderful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antiviral agent.
Eucalyptus Staigeriana – Eucalyptus staigeriana is also referred to as Lemon-Scented Ironbark Eucalyptus oil. It contains the compounds of citronellaol, citral, geraniol and limonene.
Cedar – Stimulating cedar oil gives our Forager’s Balm its fresh, woodsy scent. It is a soothing, stimulating ingredient that eases the inflammation of insect bites and is said to speed the healing of skin abrasions.
Peppermint – Peppermint oil is wonderfully refreshing but not to insects who find the aroma too powerful. Takes the itch out of bites too. It has shown to be an effective treatment against lice.
Jojoba – Packed with phenolic compounds, tocopherols, and every soluble form of Vitamin E, jojoba is nature’s most effective moisturizer. Since it’s so close in composition to the skin’s own natural oils, it is easily absorbed and able to deliver endless moisture to thirsty tissue.
Beeswax – your Jai baby is shielded by an invisible layer of protection each time you use our beeswax-based balm. Beeswax forms a porous layer on the skin, protecting it from chafing while retaining nutrients and moisture.
