Mandarin Mecca Coffee Scrub / Lustre Restoring Body + Face Exfoliant

Purpose

I’m a decaf coffee girl, and my nervous system can’t deal with the skin-irritating, hyper-stimulating full blast caffeine content in coffee scrubs, so in my humble experience, the low residual amount of caffeine in coffee waste is a gently effective way to deliver all the benefits of a good coffee scrub without the hardcore down sides. Because it contains velvet soft coconut sugar instead of hard crystal edged brown sugar, this scrub is gentle enough to use on my face and body without micro tearing.

Ritual

I like to do this once a week, and, as usual with our compositions, you only need little – a 10ml amount, approximately the size of a small chestnut, is heaps.

Body scrub: run the shower, grab a chestnut size piece of scrub, hop under the shower to get your body and face wet and start by gently by massaging the scrub into thighs and butt, increase to a vigorous rub in circular motion. Rub the leftover from your hands over your face. Massage body and face for as long as you like, rinse off.

Face exfoliation: wet your face and massage a hazelnut size amount into the skin for a few minutes. Rinse, dry, moisturize with precious face oil.

Dark under eye circle treatment: very gently dab a tiny amount just under your eyes without rubbing, let sit for 3-4 minutes and gingerly wash of without rubbing or scrubbing the delicate skin around your eyes. Works wonders.

Hair treatment: if you are experiencing menopause-related hair loss, or thinning of your hair, rub your coffee scrub-smeared hands over your scalp and let the coffee oil sit there while you’re exfoliating your butt. Shampoo/condition/rinse as per usual.

One 215 ml jar holds about 15 applications for body + face, about 30 for face only.

The coffee scent fades from your skin quickly. Because of the oils in the scrub you don’t really need body oil, but go ahead and oil up if you want to. Our luxurious body oil complements this scrub like a dream.

What is sun-infusion?

"May the sun bring you new energy by day, May the moon softly restore you by night. May the rain wash away your worries, May the breeze blow new strength to your being. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life."

Using an age-old technique called sun-infusion, we slowly release the therapeutic components of our flowers, fruits, skins, leaves, bark, seeds, resins, even wood and minerals into biodynamic olive oil over a period of 4-6 months, sometimes up to a year for a very valuable vintage.

As a result of their more solid structure than that of leaves or blossoms, barks, roots, and skins take longer to extract. Additionally, resins must be removed from their water-soluble gums before they can dissolve into my oil.

This slow natural process produces zero carbon footprint and preserves the heat sensitive medicinal properties of our botanicals and cold pressed oils and synergises their healing powers in ways that stove-top produced extracts just can’t, in my humble experience.

It also allows me to use unrefined, extra virgin and cold pressed olive oil, whereas commercially, the less nutritious, refined and heat stable sunflower seed oil is used.

What are biodynamic principles?

Rudolf Steiner, an early 20th-century German philosopher, humanist, and wholistic activist, pioneered biodynamic principles, homeopathy, and founded the eponymous Steiner schools, with which Johanna's family has been actively involved for four generations, from the schools' founding days to the establishment of schools all over the world. Rudolf Steiner's teachings on anthroposophy gave rise to biodynamic.

In essence, we see biodynamic as the evolution of organic farming.

Biodynamic concepts, which literally translate as "life force," aim to bring harmony to nature and perceive the sun, moon, and stars, as well as the earth, plants, animals, and people, as components of a whole.

Using cosmic forces, rhythmic stirring to activate natural fertilizers, the lunar cycle, and seasonal observation, biodynamic principles seek to establish a production cycle that is completely sustainable.
all to generate extraordinary, vibrant produce with powerful qi (lifeforce).

It's just a very organic, genuine way of being; it's not rocket science.

Why does Lepaar blend in sync with the moon cycle?

In accordance with the biodynamic lunar calendar, we combine during the new and full moons to channel heavenly energy into our compositions.
So that when we use our skincare, we can feel closer to ourselves and the environment.

At full moon, we combine our daytime compositions to capture the Sun's reflected light energy.

At New Moon, we combine our nighttime compositions to harness its reviving vitality.
