Mercedes Prinsen and Jaap van Slooten founded Zechsal in 2010. The name Zechsal comes from the terms “Zech” and “sal”. The second element “sal” is Latin for salt, and it’s also part of the word “salary”. In ancient times, people were paid in salt because it was so valuable — showing just how precious this mineral has always been. Zechsal was founded with the idea of offering high-quality magnesium-based products that support wellbeing and relaxation. Today, the brand continues to use natural magnesium sources in its formulations.
