So highly regarded are these roots that they’ve earned the name “White Gold.” In Ayurveda, the plant is counted among the divya aushadhi — the divine herbs — and the rasayana, the restorative tonic herbs.

Genuinely pure safed musli is rare. Because the root itself is scarce and expensive, many powders on the market are bulked out with cheaper, undisclosed ingredients — which is why price is often a good indicator of quality. Ours contains 100% pure safed musli root, with nothing else added.

✧ How has Safed Musli been used in Ayurveda?

Safed musli holds a long place in Ayurvedic tradition, with records dating back to 11th-century India. It belongs to a revered class of herbs called vajikarana rasayana — rejuvenating tonics traditionally linked to strength, vigour, and vitality — earning it the old name “the herb of strength.”

Traditionally, the white roots were gathered from forest floors across central and western India, then dried and ground into a fine powder, often taken with warm milk. For generations, it has remained one of Ayurveda’s go-to grounding, strengthening tonics for both men and women.

We share this as traditional context, not as health advice.

✧ What’s in our Safed Musli?

Carefully sourced from India. Click here for details on our sourcing policy, or read more about HOMA organic farming.

✧ How is Safed Musli different from Ashwagandha and Shatavari?

Safed musli, ashwagandha, and shatavari are three of Ayurveda’s most treasured roots, and together they form the heart of our Sun Blissed Elixir. While often spoken of as a trio, each brings something distinct. Ashwagandha is the calming, grounding root. Shatavari, known as the “queen of herbs,” is the cooling, nourishing root traditionally associated with women through every life stage. Safed musli is the strengthening root — the “white gold” taken as a restorative tonic.

Each root can be taken on its own, or all three enjoyed together in our Sun Blissed Elixir.

✧ How do you take Safed Musli?

Take 1 teaspoon (approx. 2g) once or twice daily. It’s traditionally stirred into warm milk (dairy or plant-based), though it works just as well in water, a smoothie, or with a touch of honey or jaggery. Start with a small amount and adjust to what suits you best.

Many people take it alongside our Ashwagandha and Shatavari, or combine all three in our Sun Blissed Elixir.

✧ Is Safed Musli safe?

Safed musli has been consumed in India for centuries and is generally well tolerated. As with any concentrated herb, we wouldn’t recommend it during pregnancy or breastfeeding without first consulting a qualified healthcare practitioner. If you take prescription medication or are under medical care, it’s always best to check before introducing a new herb into your routine.
