Dai Dai Blossom Essential Oil
Delightful Dai Dai Blossom herald springtime dawns of citrus groves in tropical Asia
Only 1 left in stock
Thick white blooms burst forth from the bitter orange tree exhaling one of the most prized aromas of perfumery and antiquity. Dai Dai is Neroli’s cultivar-cousin; where Neroli blossoms from the Seville sour orange tree cascade wedding celebrations in North Africa, consecrate the Sun King’s fine French perfumes, and are mashed into Mediterranean marmalades, Dai Dai’s blossoms are seen scattered in Japanese New Year celebrations, sauna steams, bathing beauty rituals, and in Traditional Chinese Herbalism for the quality the aromatic blossoms bring to hot, healing teas and culinary creations.
Brimming with linalool and linalyl acetate, the joyful floral aroma of Dai Dai Blossom Essential Oil nestles nerves, sweetly softens skin and fine tunes fine-lines. This special essence also sings a sunny-citrus top note in perfumes and playful love potions.

Dai Dai, which means “several generations,” is a symbol of longevity in the Far East as unpicked fruit will remain on the tree through several years, and even fruit that is many years old will turn orange in winter and back to green in summer.
Widely cultivated as an ornamental tree in the tropical Anhui and Fujian regions of China, Dai Dai is prized for its fabulously fragrant flowers that are championed for perfumery, and added to baths, saunas, and culinary confections.
These bitter orange trees blossom for only a few weeks in the spring, and the small harvest of flowers is hand gathered early in the morning just as the buds begin to blossom when the aroma is the freshest and concentrated in the petals. The flowers are highly fragrant yet the yield from steam distillation is low: two pounds of flowers yield only one quarter of a teaspoon of essential oil. Dai Dai Flower Essential Oil is a true botanical treasure!
As a cultivar of Citrus aurantium, Dai Dai Blossom has a rich, floral scent with citrusy overtones that is similar in aroma and bioactivity to Neroli, yet it is slightly less honeyed. It is affluent in skin smoothing linalool and linalyl acetate, and when combined in a serum or toner, it soothes irritations, reduces redness, and diminishes imperfections. This flower power essence is lovely diluted to 1-5% in organic Jojoba, Rosehips, or serum before applying.
It is delightful in perfumes for a joyful top note, and dabbed diluted on pulse points or applied neat to a hairbrush, or wooden comb for a lovely floral scent relaxing to the senses. When diffused, the sublimely sweet love molecules of Dai Dai’s blooms fill a room.

How do we love thee, orange tree? Let us count the ways.
Our hearts and noses are filled with gratitude for the many aromatic gifts of the generous orange tree. The hypnotic floral fantasy of Neroli is produced by steam distilling the orange tree’s fragrant white flowers, and opulent Orange Blossom Absolute uses a solvent extraction method on those same fragrant flowers to capture a richer, thicker, and more viscous essence that has incredible tenacity in perfumery. Twiggy-tangy Petitgrain oil is a steam distillation of the orange tree’s leaves and stems, and it is perfectly poised to refresh the senses, revive the skin, and reinvigorate the spirit. Cold-pressed orange peels release bright and sunny Orange Essential Oil used as fresh, sparkling notes in perfumes and is nearly always used as a top note. Neroli Fleurs sur Petitgrain is a captivating co-distillation of Neroli blossoms with the twigs and leaves of Petitgrain to create an enchanting, super sensual scent.
