Mercedes Prinsen and Jaap van Slooten founded Zechsal in 2010. They are firm believers in the benefits of magnesium for your health and wellbeing, and they manage the business with heart and professionalism. The Heritage of Zechsal:

The name Zechsal comes from the terms “Zechstein” and “sal”. The Zechstein Sea covered a significant portion of Northern Europe 250 million years ago. This sea gradually dried up over time, leaving behind just salts (minerals), including a substantial deposit of pure magnesium chloride. Zechsal used magnesium from this region. This salt is the origin of the company and the raw material that is still utilized in many of the products today.

The second element “sal” is Latin meaning salt. Furthermore, it is component of the word “salary”. In acient times, people were paid in salt because it was so scarce. This demonstrates how priceless the old-growth magnesium salt. The Zechstein Sea’s magnesium salt is regarded as the finest and purest magnesium salt in the entire world.
