INGREDIENTS EXPLANATIONS
In 2019, the founders of Viori made their way to a remote village nestled in the rice terraced mountains of Longsheng. It was there that they came across the Red Yao tribe, a community that had called these mountains home for centuries.
Something stood out immediately. Every woman in the village had strikingly long, jet black hair, with not a single strand of white, even among women well into their eighties. Curious, they asked the women what their secret was.
One of the women smiled and led them to a small wooden hut nearby. Inside, sitting on the ground, was a bowl filled with a milky white liquid. She began to explain. From a young age, after harvesting rice from the mountain fields, the women of the tribe would prepare it in a special way. They would ferment the rice over several days, and once ready, use the resulting liquid to wash their hair. A simple ritual, passed down through generations, and the key to their remarkable hair.
That moment became the foundation of Viori.

Our products contain a carefully balanced concentration of Longsheng rice water. Using rice water at too high a concentration too often can disrupt your hair and scalp's natural pH level, which is why we've formulated our products with this in mind. Combined with the other nutrient-rich ingredients in each bar, you'll still get results comparable to a dedicated rice water rinse, without the risk of throwing your scalp off balance.
Our products are designed to moisturize, strengthen, promote regrowth, add volume, boost natural shine, repair damage, and reduce scalp irritation and dryness, all in a pH balanced formula that's gentle enough for everyday use.
Independent research has shown that rice protein can smooth the hair, enhance shine, increase strength, and support longer hair growth.
Many of our customers say that one of their favorite things about our bars is how lightweight they feel, with no heaviness or residue left behind after washing.
Color Treated Hair
All of our products are formulated to be compatible with color treated hair, and we've received a lot of positive feedback from customers who use them alongside their color routines. Our products are paraben-free and made with all-natural ingredients, making them mild and gentle on the hair.
That said, results can vary depending on the type of color used. Toners, semi-permanent dyes, and box dyes often contain heavy metals and chemicals that can react unpredictably with other products. For best results, we recommend using a permanent dye, as it penetrates the hair cuticle and locks in more securely. Since bar shampoos require some friction to lather, this can open the cuticle slightly, which may cause color to fade if it hasn't fully penetrated. To help protect your color, we suggest working up a lather in your palm first and applying it with your hands rather than rubbing the bar directly on your hair. As with any haircare product, use at your own risk. Viori is not responsible for any color changes or unwanted results related to color treated hair.
All Hair Colors
Our products work well across all hair colors, whether you have light blonde, red, brown, or black hair. We also have customers with gray or white hair who use our bars to help strengthen, nourish, and brighten their hair, with some even reporting less gray over time.
Type 3 and 4 Hair
We've had many customers with Type 3 and Type 4 hair try our products and love them. Across all variations of these hair types, we've seen consistently positive results so far.
Fine or Thin Hair
All of our products work well on fine or thin hair. If your scalp tends to be oily, we recommend Citrus Yao. For a dry scalp, Hidden Waterfall, Terrace Garden, or Native Essence are great options.
