This Light Brown Henna Hair Dye from Morocco Method adds soft color, shine, and depth—without any chemicals. Made with a precise blend of henna and indigo leaves, it delivers rich, natural results every time.
This plant-based hair dye is 100% vegan, sulfate-free, and cruelty-free. It contains no harsh metals, parabens, or synthetic toxins, making it gentle on both hair and scalp. Every shade in the Morocco Method henna range deeply conditions while coloring. It’s also perfect for covering grays and safe to use on beards and mustaches.
Size: 4 oz – 113 g
We strongly recommend performing a strand or patch test before applying henna to the head to ensure the desired color is achieved, especially because henna cannot be safely bleached or highlighted.
Some grey or previously damaged hair may also be a bit resistant to the dye (this will result in a brassy orange color) and may require a priming application / second application on virgin hair, and it’s best to be aware of that and have the supplies available ahead of time.
How to Mix & Apply Morocco Method Brown Henna Hair Dye
What You’ll Need
Tools:
• Glass or wooden mixing bowl
• Wooden mixing spoon
• Measuring spoon or cup
• Protective gloves (vinyl or rubber)
• Plastic wrap or shower cap
• Optional: Fabric cap (like a beanie or knit hat)
Ingredients:
• 2 cups strong brewed black tea, cooled
• Up to 3 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice
• 1 Brown Henna Kit (includes 1 bag Henna, 1 bag Indigo)
• 1 cup warm filtered water
• Optional: 1–3 tsp Euro Oil
• Optional: 1–3 tsp ground clove, ginger, or cinnamon (to reduce henna scent)
• Optional: Pinch of sea salt (deepens brown tones)
• Optional: Amla powder (helps lock in color; do not use tea, vinegar, or lemon juice if using Amla)
Alternative Liquid Options:
Instead of black tea + lemon or vinegar, you can use:
• 2 cups apple or orange juice
• 2 cups strongly brewed herbal tea (like chamomile or rosemary), cooled
• 2 cups warm filtered water (with or without lemon juice)
• Amla powder (as liquid base)
Step-by-Step: Mixing & Applying Brown Henna
-
Pour the Henna (labeled LT/MD/DK Brown) into your bowl. Add clove, ginger, or cinnamon to reduce the henna smell. Stir in apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. More acid = deeper color, but may dry hair and increase dye release time.
-
Slowly add black tea until the mixture is thick and smooth—like yogurt. It shouldn’t drip, but should spread easily. You might not need the full 2 cups.
-
Mix in Euro Oil. If you used a lot of acid (vinegar/lemon), use more oil (up to 3 tsp max). Too much oil can weaken color.
-
Cover with plastic wrap and let sit 8–12 hours at room temperature. If you used a lot of acid, wait the full 12 hours. Check for a darker surface color—that means the dye has released.
-
In a new bowl, pour the Indigo (labeled LT/MD/DK Brown). Add warm filtered water and mix to yogurt consistency.
-
Combine the Henna and Indigo pastes. If needed, add a splash of warm water. Mix well and use immediately—don’t let it sit.
-
Section your hair and protect your skin (hairline, ears) with Euro Oil. Drape a towel over your shoulders. Wearing gloves, apply the mixture to clean, dry (or towel-dried) hair.
-
Cover hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap. To keep the dye warm, optionally wear a fabric cap over the plastic.
-
Leave the paste in your hair for 1–4 hours. Longer time = deeper color. Do not leave overnight.
-
Rinse thoroughly with water only. Use a drain catcher. Add Pearl Essence Creme Rinse or Euro Oil if needed for easier rinsing. The Scalp Massager tool can help.
-
Wait 24 hours before shampooing. The final color develops over 72 hours and lasts 8–12 weeks.
