Christmas Treat Recipes

Welcome to Day 20 of our Dutch Home and Living Christmas Advent Calendar! As we count down to the big day, it’s time to also take some breaks with some special Christmas treats. These wonderful treats will add a sweet and refreshing note to your holiday celebrations, every time you need a moment to wind down and relax.

Today, we’re bringing you two festive treats that pair beautifully together: the creamy and spiced Speculoos Tiramisu and a nostalgic Christmas Fruit Punch. The tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, infused with the warm flavors of speculoos cookies and topped with a swirl of speculoos spread. The punch is a fruity, bubbly refreshment featuring sparkling apple juice and vibrant fruits — perfect for balancing the richness of the tiramisu.

These two recipes are simple to prepare and will make a show-stopping duo for your Christmas dessert table.

Let’s get started!

Speculoos Tiramisu

Serves: 6
Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 250 g speculoos cookies
  • 100 g speculoos spread
  • 250 g mascarpone
  • 250 ml heavy cream
  • 2 sachets vanilla sugar
  • 75 ml espresso or strong coffee

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Espresso:
Brew 75 ml of espresso or strong coffee and set it aside to cool.

  2. Make the Cream Layer:
In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with the vanilla sugar until stiff peaks form. Add the mascarpone and gently fold until combined.

  3. Assemble the Tiramisu:

    – Dip each speculoos cookie briefly into the cooled coffee and arrange a layer of cookies at the bottom of a serving dish.
    – Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the cookie layer.
    – Add another layer of coffee-dipped cookies, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

  4. Add the Topping:

    – Gently warm the speculoos spread in the microwave or on the stovetop until it becomes pourable. Drizzle it over the top layer of mascarpone, creating swirls or patterns as desired.

  5. Chill:
Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until ready to serve.
