Instructions

  1. Start by melting the shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax together. You can do this by putting the ingredients into a heat-safe bowl and then placing that bowl over a pot of boiling water (a.k.a. a double boiler). Stir the ingredients gently until they are fully melted and combined.

  2. Once everything is melted and mixed, remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. Add the sweet almond oil into the mixture. Stir it well.

  4. Now, add the essential oils. The amount can be adjusted to preference, but around 10 drops should give a noticeable but not overpowering fragrance.

  5. Add in the aloe vera gel. This ingredient is excellent for soothing the skin post-shave.

  6. Mix all of the ingredients together until they’re well incorporated.

  7. Let the mixture cool. As it cools, it should start to solidify. If you want a creamier texture, you can whip the balm with a hand mixer while it’s cooling.

  8. Once the balm has cooled down and achieved the desired consistency, transfer it to a clean jar or container.

And there you have it, a homemade aftershave balm that’s perfect for a Father’s Day gift. You can pair it with a nice shaving brush for a complete shaving gift set. Remember to store the balm in a cool, dry place for best results. Enjoy the process of making this DIY skincare product!
