Henna Hair Dye – Black
€20,00
Morocco Method Black Henna Hair Dye is perfect for those who want to deepen naturally black hair or darken dark brown tones.
In stock
This rich, natural formula is made from a precise blend of indigo leaves, henna leaf, and bark, creating a deep black shade without any chemicals.
Note: Henna is easier for darkening hair than for lightening it. If you’re unsure about the final result, start with a lighter shade. This black henna contains both red henna and indigo.
All Morocco Method Henna Hair Dyes are 100% chemical-free—no harsh metals, parabens, or toxins—making them safe for your hair and scalp. Each shade deeply nourishes and conditions while coloring, offering a safe alternative to traditional dyes. All henna colors cover grays and are suitable for use on beards and mustaches.
How to Mix & Apply Black Henna
Important: Black Henna requires a two-step process. First, apply a red henna base, rinse and dry, this will turn your hair red. Then apply indigo to achieve a true black color.
We strongly recommend performing a strand or patch test before applying henna to the head to ensure the desired color is achieved, especially because henna cannot be safely bleached or highlighted.
Some grey or previously damaged hair may also be a bit resistant to the dye (this will result in a brassy orange color) and may require a priming application / second application on virgin hair, and it’s best to be aware of that and have the supplies available ahead of time.
Stage 1: Applying Henna Tools:Â
• Mixing bowl (glass or wood preferred)
• Mixing spoon (wooden preferred)
• Measuring cup/spoon
• Gloves (vinyl or rubber)
• Plastic wrap or shower cap
• Optional: Fabric cap (beanie or hat)
Ingredients:
• 2 cups strong black tea, cooled
• Up to 3 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice
• 1 bag Black Henna (red henna blend)
• Optional: 1–3 tsp Euro Oil
• Optional: 1–3 tsp powdered clove, ginger, or cinnamon
• Optional: Amla powder (do not use tea or ACV if using amla)
Alternate liquids:
Instead of tea + acid, you may use:
• 2 cups apple or orange juice
• 2 cups strong, cooled herbal tea (e.g. chamomile or rosemary)
• 2 cups warm filtered water (with or without lemon juice)
Instructions:
Empty the Black Henna bag (Stage 1) into your bowl. Optionally add powdered clove, ginger, or cinnamon to reduce smell. Stir in lemon juice or vinegar. More acid deepens color but increases dye release time and may dry the hair.
Slowly add tea until the mix has a yogurt-like texture—thick and spreadable, not runny. You may not need all 2 cups.
Add Euro Oil if desired (no more than 3 tsp). Use slightly more if a large amount of acid was added.
Cover with plastic wrap, press out air, and let sit for 8–12 hours. Let it sit the full time if using a lot of acid. Look for the paste to darken to a brown-red hue, indicating dye release.
Section your hair, protect your shoulders with a towel, and apply Euro Oil to your hairline and ears. Using gloved hands, apply henna to clean, dry or towel-dried hair (not wet). See application video guide.
Cover hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap. Optionally add a fabric cap to retain warmth.
Leave in for 1–4 hours. Longer times deepen the color. Do not leave overnight.
Rinse thoroughly with water only. Use a drain catcher. Optional: Pearl Essence Crème Rinse or Euro Oil can help with rinsing. A scalp massager is also helpful.
Towel-dry or air dry your hair before continuing to Stage 2. You may also wait 1–2 days.
Stage 2: Applying Indigo
Tools:
• Mixing bowl (glass or wood preferred)
• Mixing spoon (wooden preferred)
• Measuring cup/spoon
• Gloves
• Plastic wrap or shower cap
• Optional: Fabric cap (beanie or hat)
Ingredients:
• 2 cups warm filtered water
• 1 bag Black Indigo
• Optional: Pinch of sea salt (to darken the tone)
Instructions:
Mix Black Indigo with warm water until it forms a yogurt-like paste. Add a pinch of sea salt for deeper color. Use the mix immediately—do not let it sit.
Apply the indigo to your freshly hennaed (now red) hair, using the same method as before: section your hair, protect your skin with oil, and apply with gloved hands.
Cover your hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap. For extra warmth, wear a fabric cap over it.
Leave in for 1–4 hours. Longer times result in a deeper black.
Rinse thoroughly with water only. Use a drain catcher. Add Pearl Essence Crème Rinse or a few drops of Euro Oil if needed. The scalp massager may help with removal.
Avoid shampooing for 24 hours. Final color develops in 72 hours. A slight green tint may appear at first—this will oxidize to black over a few days. The color lasts 8–12 weeks.
Important Information About Chemical Dyes
Morocco Method Black Henna is made from 100% pure plant dyes—no PPD, metallic salts, or harsh chemicals. It’s one of the safest and most nourishing hair color options available. You can apply henna to chemically dyed hair, but wait 6–8 weeks after your last chemical color to let your hair detox.
If you want to return to chemical dyeing after using henna, wait at least 6–8 weeks. While pure henna won’t damage your hair, it can produce unpredictable results when combined with chemical dyes. Henna binds tightly to hair, making color lifting difficult and fade patterns uneven.
Important note:
Box dyes can’t safely lighten hennaed hair, especially if it includes indigo. Lifting henna may result in uneven or green tones, and removing indigo requires harsh chemicals that can severely damage the hair. However, you can safely color your hair the same shade or darker using natural or chemical methods—just allow time between treatments.
