The difference between Jonquil absolute and Carnation absolute
In general, they have a similar scent and pigment profiles. They are like scent sisters. They also both blend well with vanilla, jasmine, ylang, narcissus, carnation, champa, benzoin, neroli, and any citrus.
Jonquil absolute can be described as an olive-brown liquid of heavy, honeylike, deep sweet floral with a strong green undertone, a tinge of cinnamate spice with a tenacious dry-down. Reminiscent of hyacinth.
Carnation is also often described as an absolute that is a viscous liquid of olive green to olive-brown with honey-like herbaceous notes; a sweet tenacious fragrance with a whisper of balsamic clove.
The character of each essence’s aroma is created by the biochemical constituents that make up the botanical oil. Carnation and jonquil smell similar because they get their scent signatures from many of the same constituents. They share major components in common. Some of them are benzyl benzoates (including methyl, acetate, and salicylate), linalools, aldehydes, and linoleates. They also both share a subtle spice yet jonquil’s accent is a slight cinnamate indole component, whereas carnation veers to the eugenol (clove) constituent, yet still with the hints of phenylethanol, which contributes to a hint of hyacinth-like aroma in this absolute too.

The euphoric effects of charismatic carnation will morph your humdrum day into a pleasant, placid reverie.
Carnations have traditionally been used by artists, writers, and poets to inspire creativity, increase motivation, and provide a veritable muse of euphoria. First cultivated in ancient Egypt over 2,000 years ago, carnations are one of the world’s most popular flowers and were said to be the favorite flower of Jove, the Roman King of the Gods. Carnations represent love, purity, good fortune, graciousness, and gratitude.
Carnations are so sweet! They have even been designated as the official flower of Mother’s Day! Yet the scent of cultivated carnations that flock floral shops does not compare to the brimming bliss of this absolute’s rich-honeyed aromatic kiss.
Carnation oil is coveted for its deft desire-boosting qualities and enchanting scent. While it can be used to melt muscles in massage, most people enjoy our carnation absolute for its sultry aroma and creativity heightening effects. Use Carnation Absolute while writing, painting, playing music, and day dreaming. It can assist with deciding between two things, tapping into that loving feeling, brightening the mood of a room, and setting a romantic tone for the evening. Coronate your body and hair with carnation absolute, for an exotic, euphoric flair.

“The year growing ancient, not yet on summer’s death, nor on the birth of trembling winter,
the fairest flowers o’the season are our carnations and streaked gillyvors.”
~William Shakespeare
“[Carnation Absolute] is said to be … uplifting, refreshing and invigorating, and may enhance creativity. The scent was used in ancient Greece to refresh the mind, and the Romantic poets such as Byron and Shelley reputedly enjoyed the euphoric effect of its fragrance.”

EILEEN –
DIVINE
So amazing. I’m not a sweet scent girl and though curious, the ‘pale pink poetry’ and ‘no scent sweeter’ in the description rather put me off so so it hovered between my basket and my wish list for a couple of years lol. And then I tried and well, THANK YOU. Yes it’s sweet but it’s not twee/cloying, both sensuous and angelic somehow, it evokes bright silver sun and moon, unicorns, heart and waves of divine feminine. Definitely sparks off truth and creativity, it’s such a pure soul vibration.
It’s beautiful on its own and also mixes really well with pretty much everything else, woody scents, earthy scents, citruses and other florals.
One of my top two essentials now, right up there with my beloved Agarwood, although it’s pretty much its polar opposite.
