Scalp Care 101

SCALP CARE 101

It’s about time scalp care receives the credit it’s due! In our opinion, scalp care is the new skincare. For many reasons, good scalp care results in healthier, longer and stronger strands. Many people try to achieve healthier hair by applying endless amounts of product to the lengths. However, the scalp is where your hair grows from, therefore that’s where your attention should be focused. We know scalp care has been getting a lot of attention lately in the beauty community so we wanted to create this blog to share our tips and tricks to achieving optimal scalp health. Continue reading to learn more!

How It Works

A healthy scalp promotes good cell turnover and promotes a healthy environment for maximum hair growth. Just like our skincare, it’s important to cleanse and remove dead skin cells from the follicle to promote healthier and thriving follicles. If the follicles on your scalp are clogged from product build-up and excess oils healthy hair growth will be blocked. This relates to skincare when trying to prevent breakouts or blackheads. It’s imperative to keep the pores on your scalp clean in order to achieve healthier and longer hair. A healthy scalp allows for growth to be uninterrupted or disturbed by unwanted factors such as oil, product build-up, or even dandruff.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SCALP PRODUCTS

There’s a slim picking of products out there that are actually formulated for the scalp. Most of them focus on nourishing the lengths of the hair. Don’t get us wrong, it’s important to maintain the ends of your hair too. However, if you’re trying to improve the longevity of your hair health, starting at the scalp is key. Luckily enough, we take scalp health seriously. Our products are formulated with your scalp health top of mind. Checkout our product recommendations below:

SCALP TREATMENT

This topical treatment is highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their scalp and hair heal;th. We love it so much we had to creat two different formulations. One for problematic scalp and one for non-problematic.

Normal Scalp

The ‘Normal Scalp’ formulation is intended for anyone without flakes, dandruff, or other forms of irritation on their scalp. If you’re looking to promote growth, keep product build-up, and sebum production at bay, this formulation is for you! This treatment does wonders in gently clarifying and restoring the scalp. If you get the occasional itchy scalp or experience excess oils, use this treatment weekly to see all your worries disappear. It actually contains ingredients that work to reset sebum (oil) production back to a ‘healthier’ rate. You can thank the abundance of Ayurvedic herbs in this product that have been used for centuries to cleanse and treat the scalp. Let’s not forget about hair growth, a common benefit of most Ayurvedic herbs. In fact, both these formulations contain ingredients that stimulate the hair follicle that in turn, promote new hair growth.

Problematic Scalp

The ‘Problematic Scalp’ formulation was created for anyone with flakes, dandruff, or other forms of irritation. In fact, we’ve had numerous amounts of customers with scalp eczema and scalp psoriasis say this product has worked wonders to help reduce flareups caused by these conditions. The problematic formulation contains antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties that are a powerhouse in fighting off bacteria. The star ingredients here are Neem Oil and Tea Tree Oil as they contain dozens of antimicrobial properties. Similar to the ‘Normal Scalp’, this version is also impeccable at promoting hair growth as it contains the same growth-promoting Ayurvedic ingredients.

Herbal Shampoo

Unlike other shampoos on the market, the Herbal Shampoo contains scalp-friendly ingredients. In fact, it contains loads of the same ingredients in the Scalp Treatment. Since shampoo is one of the few haircare products that actually touch your scalp, we knew it had to be crafted with scalp-loving ingredients. Bhringaraj, Amla, Brahmi, and Neem are just a few ingredients that are shared with the Scalp Treatment. It’s also formulated without any parabens, silicones, or sulfates because your scalp deserves only the best! The best part yet…it lathers! It contains highly mucilage ingredients such as Slippery Elm Bark and Marshmallow root that coat the hair and provides a luxurious lather.
