(Recipe) Dutch Apple and Pear Spiced Crumble
Ingredients
For the filling:
3 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
2 ripe pears (peeled, cored, and sliced)
2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the crumble topping:
1 cup oats
1/2 cup almond flour (or regular flour)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or almonds
2 tablespoons coconut oil or butter (melted)
2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
A pinch of salt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples and pears with maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until well coated. Spread the mixture evenly in the baking dish.
Prepare the crumble topping: In a separate bowl, mix the oats, almond flour, chopped nuts, melted coconut oil (or butter), maple syrup, and a pinch of salt until it forms a crumbly texture.
Assemble: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple and pear filling.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the fruit is tender and the topping is golden brown.
Serve warm, optionally with a dollop of Greek yogurt or dairy-free alternative for extra creaminess.
