Get glowing Skin this Summer: DIY Serums for every skin type!

All-Natural and Non-Toxic Oil Blends You Can Make Yourself For Glowing Skin all Summer Long

How often have you purchased skin or hair products solely based on the packaging, or the clever copywriting found on the label? Before switching to natural, we were guilty of this too. It’s not uncommon to disregard the ingredient list or even know what these ingredients mean. Living a more non-toxic lifestyle means being a bit more selective when it comes to ingredients; choosing herbs and plant oils over synthetic compounds and toxic fragrance.

The best way to ensure your getting a truly natural product is to make your own! We’re skincare fanatics and skin care products are actually some of the easiest to make. With summer time approaching, we’re chasing that glowy summer skin with one of our favourite ingredients: Rosehip Oil. This oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, which correct dry skin and dark spots, all while reducing signs of aging.

Whip up one of these oil blends (all containing Rosehip), according to your skin type, and you’ll be glowing all summer long. Combine all ingredients in an 2 oz. amber dropper bottle and use within 8 months.

*make sure you always preform a patch test before using essentials oils on your face

Anti-Aging

If anti-aging is your primary concern, there is a way to do it naturally! Rosehip’s anti-aging power comes from its high Vitamin C and A content, which penetrate deep layers of the skin and stimulate collagen production. Paired with vitamin e and carrot seed oil this antioxidant cocktail will fight off free radicals and signs of aging.

  • ½ tablespoon jojoba oil
  • ½ tablespoon rosehip oil
  • ½ tablespoon pomegranate oil
  • 15 drops vitamin E
  • 20 drops lavender oil or frankincense oil
  • 10 drops carrot seed oil

Oily/Acne-Prone

If your skin is oily/acne prone, the idea of ‘glowy skin’ might make you run for the hills. We promise there’s a difference between oily and glowy, and this serum will work in balancing your oil production while lightly hydrating for that subtle glow. Infused with tea tree oil this serum has astringent and antibacterial properties that keep oil/acne at bay.

  • ½ tablespoon jojoba oil
  • ½ tablespoon Argan oil
  • ½ tablespoon rosehip oil
  • 5 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 5 drops Rosemary essential Oil

Dry/Sensitive Skin

Dry/Sensitive skin can be tricky to navigate; it needs tons of TLC, but too many products/ingredients can be irritating. Rosehip oil paired with frankincense is a powerful combo in soothing redness and irritation, while sweet almond is super moisturizing.

  • ½ tablespoon rosehip oil
  • ½ tablespoon sweet almond oil
  • 5 drops Frankincense oil
  • 5 drops Sandalwood Oil

Normal/Combination

There’s really nothing off-limits for normal/combination skin! Feel free to experiment with oils you like. Some of our favourite are: argan and jojoba oil for lightweight moisture, lavender for it’s anti-bacterial/soothing properties, rosehip (duh!), and lemon for exfoliation and evening-out skin tone.

  • ½ tablespoon rosehip oil
  • ½ tablespoon jojoba oil
  • ½ tablespoon argan oil
  • 5 drops lavender oil
  • 5 drops lemon oil

We’re bombarded with products everyday – in stores and in advertisements – but taking care of your skin is surprisingly easy. Harness nature’s beautifying powers with these all-natural serums and you’ll see exactly what we mean! Let summer begin!
