Cannot stress it enough!! It’s an absolute must to have alive probiotics! 🥬✨Probiotics in their raw, juicey and alive state are 1000x more effective than any powder you might find in most grocery stores and pharmacies. If the probiotic you’re purchasing is not refrigerated, it is an absolute no-no. Basically don’t spend the money… (in my opinion). If they’re well-sourced refrigerated to be kept alive, that is a much better option. 🌸Either way, there is no better way than through alive foods that are charged with healthy microorganisms that seed your beautiful biome!
Here is an EASY kraut that I looove making. 💕Loaded with PRE-biotics, like garlic, onion, turmeric, ginger and cabbage! Which is then fermented for 3-4 weeks to generate healthy microorganisms that become the very best and tastey PRO-biotics. Also, an important factor to take into account here is that for PRObiotics to be effective, prebiotics have to be woven into the diet as well. Prebiotic fibers ensure that the ‘soil’ in our gut is prepped 🌿for the seeds (PRObiotics) to germinate and colonize!
Ingredients
- head of medium cabbage (purple or white)
- 1 onion (purple or white)
- 5-6pieces of garlic
- 4 thumb’s worth Fresh Ginger
- 2-4 thumb’s worth Fresh Turmeric Root (optional)
Instructions
- Finely chop all the ingredients. You can do this manually or use a food processor – or a combination of both!
- Once the ingredients are chopped, massage them intensively with salt until they’re thoroughly broken down. The cabbage should release its juices, a crucial factor in making excellent kraut.
- Let the mixture sit, covered, in the bowl you’re using. Once it has released a generous amount of juice, pack it into clean jars and press it down firmly.
- Top the jar with cheesecloth and place it in a kitchen corner where it won’t be exposed to light.
- Allow the mixture to ferment for 3-4 weeks.
Enjoy this probiotic-rich, homemade kraut. It’s not just a tasty addition to your meals, but also a fantastic way to promote a healthy, happy gut!
Remember, good health begins in the gut, and nurturing it with beneficial probiotics is one of the best things you can do for your overall wellness. Here’s to a healthier, happier you!
