(Recipe) Delicious Sugar-Free Poached Pears for Autumn
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 10 minutes prep,
40 minutes cooking
Ingredients
- 4 poaching pears
- 1 liter red grape juice
- 500 grams coconut yogurt
- 1-2 tablespoons honey
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 pieces star anise
Equipment
- Pot
Instructions
-
Prepare the Pot
Use a pot that’s just big enough to hold all the pears standing upright. Pour the red grape juice into the pot. -
Peel and Add the Pears
Peel the pears and place them upright in the grape juice. Add the cinnamon stick and star anise, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. -
Simmer Until Tender
Let the pears cook for around 40 minutes. Test their tenderness by gently poking with a fork; if the fork goes in easily, they’re ready. The exact cooking time may vary depending on the size of the pears. -
Cool in the Juice
Remove the pot from the heat and allow the pears to cool slightly in the juice for enhanced flavor. -
Serve with Coconut Yogurt
Right before serving, spoon the coconut yogurt onto plates and place a pear in the center of each. Drizzle with a little honey for an extra hint of natural sweetness if desired.
