Ingredients

  • 4 apples, serves 4
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts or hazelnuts
  • ½ tablespoon honey
  • Butter (to top the apples)
  • Optional: scoop of ice cream or Greek yogurt, for serving

Instructions

  1. Oven and Apples Preparation:

    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
    • Wash the apples and remove the core with a sharp knife or an apple corer. Cut a small piece off the top and slightly hollow out the apples. Chop the removed apple flesh into small pieces.
  2. Filling Mixture:

    • Mix the chopped apple pieces with the raisins, cinnamon, chopped nuts, and honey.
  3. Filling and Baking:

    • Grease a baking dish and place the apples in it. Fill the apples with the raisin mixture.
    • Place a knob of butter on top of each apple.
    • Bake the apples for about 20 minutes in the center of the oven until they are soft and golden brown.
  4. Serving:

    • Optionally serve the warm apples with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt.
Variation Tips:
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of nuts.
  • Try replacing the raisins with dried cranberries for a tangy twist.
  • Add small chunks of dark chocolate to the filling for an extra decadent dessert.
  • This recipe also works great with pears instead of apples.

With these simple steps, you can quickly prepare a delicious and healthy dessert that will please everyone. Enjoy!
