When Jochem & Sjoerd became first time dads in 2013, they found out that even skincare products for babies contain harmful ingredients. And so, Naïf was born: natural skincare for Babies & Kids, using only ingredients that the baby skin really needs which are not only good for the skin but also for the planet. Nothing more, nothing less. Soon adults also started using Naïf’s products. By now there is an assortment for young and old. Because you too deserve good, easy, natural skincare.

Talking about simplicity

At Naïf, we prefer to look at how things can be done differently and look for natural alternatives that give the same, if not better, results as the non-natural variants. In our products you will find ingredients like linseed oil, cottonseed oil, avocado oil and tomato extract. But also zinkoxide and coconut fibers. Mineral oils, chemical conservation or hard chemicals; we stay away from those. Your skin does not need them and neither does the planet.

Naïf’s philosophy is simple: do good. What this means? We make skincare products that respect and protect the purity of humans and the planet. We want to leave the world as a better place than how we’ve found it. Not only for ourselves, but also for the next generation, so they can also choose and enjoy Good Care. This is not just about the ingredients, but also the packaging, shipping methods and how we work at Naïf HQ.

Responsible to do good

Naïf is B-Corp certified. That’s huge! This means that Naïf is committed to creating a better world when it comes to social impact, responsibility, transparency and sustainability. We are allowed to be a little proud of that. All our products are natural, sustainable and vegan. And as we said, no ingredients that can harm people or the planet. On the outside, all our packaging is plastic-free. Together with the Plastic Soup Foundation, Naïf contributes to the awareness of the effects of plastic on nature. We lovingly contribute to this.

Natural Ingredients

Difficult words don’t moisturize. That is why we use only the most natural ingredients such as avocado oil, tomato extract, coconut fibre and calcite from Dutch drinking water. Some of our ingredients are from Holland, like the tomatoes, calcite, apricots, sunflower oil and rosemary. For other ingredients, such as avocado oil and macadamia oil, we choose the most sustainable alternative and strive for a transparent raw materials plan. Including a life cycle assessment. This means we can map out the impact of our products on the planet.

Natural packaging Petroleum is used in the production of plastic. A business we would rather stay away from. That’s why Naïf tubes are made of bioplastic with sugarcane as the main ingredient. This way you save 64 grams of plastic per 200ML tube!

We get our sugar cane from Brazil, the biggest sugar supplier in the world. A lot of residual waste is released during the production of sugar cane. Waste that can be used for many purposes, such as making plastic. In this way, you do not use fossil fuels and no extra logging takes place, because the residues are processed. Did you know… Bioplastic can also be made from maize or potatoes.

All our tubes are made in Wormerveer. You can recognize a bio-plastic tube by the bio-plastic circle on the front and the ‘I’m Green’ logo on the back of our packaging.

We are working towards making the caps, pump bottles and spray pumps from bioplastic in 2021 as well. At the moment, this is not yet possible because of the sturdiness. However, we would like to innovate until it is possible.

Natural shipping

When you want to reduce your footprint, logistics also play an important role. We produce all of our products in the Netherlands, but we sell them all over the world. So how do you reduce your footprint? Good question.

We do several things to reduce the impact, such as offering gifts when you order more, so that you don’t have to drive for just one tube. In addition, Naïf lets you decide when and where your package is delivered, so that fewer delivery attempts are needed. Soon you will also find an impact calculator on the website, so you can compensate your CO2 emissions. The shipping boxes are made of FSC cardboard and the thank you card of recycled paper.

Naïf HQ next to the beach of The Hague inspires us every day to live by our mission at our workplace too. We do this by, amongst other things:

Starting 2019, having a vegetarian lunch (with the exception of a monthly portion of Scheveningen kibbeling)
Using natural cleaning products and sanitary products from brands such as Seepje, Yoni, Method and The Good Roll
Cycling in all weathers thanks to the Naïf raincoat made of recycled PET bottles (via Maium)
Separating waste (but that’s just common sense)
Pursuing a plastic-free and paperless work environment
