\nDit stroperige, donkergroene absolue wordt gewonnen uit korstmossen die zich vastklampen aan de bast van Franse eikenbomen diep in vochtige bossen.
\nHet korstmos biedt een frisse, mosachtige, aromatische olie die al tientallen jaren een hoofdgeur is van chypre-akkoorden en foug\u00e8re-geuren in de parfumerie.<\/p>\n

“Het is een van de fijnste fixatieven en geeft bovendien een aanhoudende “houtachtige” of “aardse” noot aan parfums. Het is onmisbaar voor de formulering van chypre, waarvan er vele variaties bestaan, maar eikenmos en bergamot komen in alle parfums voor. Eikenmos is ook een uitstekende basis voor foug\u00e8re parfums; en in lavendel is het absoluut essentieel. Dit komt omdat het bij toepassing op de huid overgevoeligheid en kruisreactiviteit kan veroorzaken. *Noot:<\/strong> Sinds de jaren 1940 zijn er beperkingen opgelegd aan Oakmoss Absolute omdat het irritatie en huidsensibilisatie kan veroorzaken. Sommige bestanddelen ervan, zoals atranorine, hematomaten en chloroatronine, kunnen bij een gevoelige huid uitslag en reacties veroorzaken.<\/p>\n

Toch vonden Joulain en Tabacchi (2009) in een recent rapport over de veiligheid van Oakmoss Absolute vele inconsistenties en onnauwkeurigheden in het onderzoek die hebben bijgedragen aan de huidige bezorgdheid over Oakmoss Absolute.
\nBij het onderzoek dat tussen de jaren 1940 en 1970 is uitgevoerd, hebben de auteurs van dit rapport misleidende publicaties, onnauwkeurige informatie en ongegronde conclusies uit mogelijk foutieve toxicologische tests ontdekt. Hoewel de veiligheid van Oakmoss Absolute gegarandeerd is voor de meeste huidtypes, is het potentieel voor overgevoeligheid een complexe kwestie waarover parfumeurs nog steeds discussi\u00ebren.
\nDaarom wordt aanbevolen om Oakmoss Absolute te verdunnen tot 0,1% om de mogelijkheid van huidsensibilisatie te vermijden.<\/p>\n
