Blijven de bloemblaadjes dicht bij elkaar, dan zal het gaan regenen.<br \/>Calendula is een bekende vrolijke tuindecoratiebloem, die zowel eetbaar als medicinaal is. Calendula&#8217;s naam is afgeleid van het Latijnse calendae, verwijzend naar de lange bloeiperiode, op bepaalde plaatsen zou het zelfs bijna elke maand van het kalenderjaar bloeien. De naam van de soort, officinalis, verwijst naar het historische gebruik ervan in apotheken en farmacopee\u00ebn als de offici\u00eble geneeskrachtige soort van zijn geslacht. <br \/>Calendula officinalis wordt al eeuwenlang gebruikt, zowel inwendig als uitwendig, om wonden, brandwonden en huiduitslag te genezen. De plant kan worden gebruikt als thee, in room en zalf (als een ge\u00efnfundeerde olie) en ook als een tinctuur of een elixer.
