ADAPTOGENS – THE ANTI-STRESS REMEDY FROM NATURE
The term “adaptogens” has been appearing more and more frequently in the media lately, and anyone who follows our Facebook or Instagram account will have come across this word a time or two.
Based on the harmonising effects, adaptogenic plant substances have been traditionally served as tea or mixed in food in traditional Chinese teachings or in the Indian art of healing (Ayurveda) for decades. In the western world, these herbal substances have only received increased attention in recent years and, especially in America, a real hype has arisen around adaptogenic mushrooms and herbs.
What are adaptogens?
Adaptogens are active plant substances that can help the body cope better with stressful situations. The term (from the English “to adapt”) was coined by the Russian researcher Nicolai Vasilevich Lazarev (1958) and refers to the regulating and harmonising properties that very specific adaptogenic natural substances can have on the human body.
With the help of studies, Lazarev found that adaptogenic herbs and mushrooms contain biologically active plant substances such as flavonoids, polyphenols, terpenes and polysaccharides that can help the organism to better cope with physical and emotional stress situations.
Certain vital mushrooms and herbs such as reishi or ginseng, for example, are said to have balancing and regulating properties, which is why they have a positive influence on the body and can bring the organism into balance. These special plants usually grow in regions where they have to adapt to extreme environmental conditions such as cold, sunlight or drought – so it is no wonder that they also help us humans to become more resistant to stress.
By the way, unlike stimulants, adaptogens have no addictive potential but provide the body with new energy without causing physical side effects such as palpitations or sweating, as is sometimes the case with caffeine, for example.
Adaptogenic herbs in the YLUMI products:
Our founder Amely’s own medical history brought her to TCM and adaptogenic herbs and vital mushrooms a few years ago. Thanks to the intake of herbal substances and the holistic approach of TCM, her health improved considerably after a short time. Building on the knowledge of the ancient tradition, we would like to make it possible for everyone to have access to tested adaptogens with the YLUMI products, so that they can experience the wonderful effects.
Traditional knowledge meets modern science
In our products we combine traditional herbs, vital mushrooms and plant substances with ultra-modern substances such as vegan hyaluronic acid from natural fermentation as well as essential vitamins and minerals.
You can read more about the history of YLUMI in various interviews. odit also in the podcast, e.g. by Dr. Janna Scharfenberg listen to.
